What do you do about a sports bra?
Couldn’t agree more!
I don’t do the gym, I always start strong but lose interest after about three months. I have ended up paying for gym membership over the years without actually going. Now, I use YouTube for PopSugar Fitness 30-40 minute workouts, trying different ones every day. I get bored easily, so I know I’ll eventually want a change, but I can always find another workout app. And definitely, sleep in your workout clothes!
I am the same way, I can never stick with the gym for more than 5 months at most. Plus, by the time I factor in traveling to and from the gym, I’m almost done with my home workout in that time.
It is pretty dull, but going to bed early and rarely having plans on weekday evenings help.
No habit would make working out in the morning feasible for me. Instead, I either use my lunch break for a walk or lift weights right after work. Either way, I make sure to listen to a podcast I am excited about and prioritize myself.
I am the same way. Even when I’m well-rested and have plenty of time, working out in the morning still feels miserable. I can not handle intense workouts in the AM or I feel genuinely sick. Afternoon and evening workouts are the only option for me.
I’m the same. I enjoy staying up late and sleeping in too much to stick with morning workouts. I just hit the gym after work. Weekends are easier since I can go in the early afternoon. I wish OP the best of luck on their journey! I like the idea of morning workouts to get them done, but it’s just not for me.
Get a workout buddy or try group fitness classes. Being with others who also want to work out daily makes it more enjoyable and motivates you to go regularly. This approach works well for me.
Having a friend or two join me made a huge difference. It is much harder to skip out when you know someone else is counting on you, rather than just yourself! You don’t even need to work out together once you are at the gym; just knowing that someone will notice if you skip is enough.
I go to the gym 4 times a week and have been consistent for the past 2.5 years. There is a coffee shop next door that makes great coffee, so I tell myself I can get one after my workout. By the time I’m done, I feel great from the exercise and enjoy my morning coffee as a reward.
Putting on my headphones right away helps a lot. It takes just a fraction of the time compared to getting dressed, and once the music starts, I can’t go back to relaxing.
If I do not work out in the morning, I pack my stuff and go straight from work to reduce friction. If I stop at home first, I’m more likely to skip the workout. Morning walks to get my coffee also set me up for a successful day. Planning to go to run club with someone else helps, and having a tasty energy drink ready in the fridge motivates me to get out of bed on early mornings.
Just show up. Even if you don’t give it your all, just make sure you are there.
Building the habit is key, so make it a point to show up, at the same time every day for 6 weeks, and you will establish that habit.
Having a dog helps me get up and out in the morning, otherwise, I get barked at!
I remind myself that discipline beats motivation and that I will feel good after the workout, but skipping it often makes me feel worse. However, I balance this by resting and listening to my body. Some days, my body prefers to chill and do some yoga instead.
