Powerlifting belts as a 5’2 girl

Hey (short) ladies,

Do any of you have belt recommendations? I am almost ready to buy my first powerlifting belt, mainly for deadlifts and squats, but I’m trying to decide between a 3” or 4” wide belt.

I’m asking because I have noticed that some smaller framed and shorter women wear 4” belts comfortably, with some even preferring them.

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

I am 4’10" and wear a 4” belt with no issues. Initially, it was uncomfortable, and I thought I might need a smaller one, but I quickly got used to it and now love the support. It’s really more about torso length than height, you can be short with a longer torso or the opposite. My advice would be to try one out, and if you still don’t like it after a few weeks, give the other size a shot.

I am 5’1" and use a 4-inch belt. If you have a really short distance between your ribs and hips, a 3-inch belt might be more comfortable.

I have a 3" belt from Upper, but it is tapered and is 4" in the back. I like that it’s narrow in the front for deadlifts, but I still have the support in the back for squats. I am 5’4 and have a short torso!

I am not a powerlifting badass like you ladies, but I recently started lifting and have two belts. The first one I bought is a pink 4” leather belt from Amazon. I’m 5’0” with a shorter torso, and it dug into my ribs a bit, plus I was stuck between belt holes for a while. Then I got a 3-inch belt with a Velcro closure, and it felt much better, plus, it’s super cute in holographic pink :star_struck:. They also offer 4” belts.

It depends on your comfort and anatomy! My partner has a 4” belt that I can use if needed, but I’m really glad I bought the 3” Rogue Ohio. I’m around 5’3”.

Everyone is different, but the 4” belt does not ruin my workout. I just prefer the 3”. When you are investing in a quality piece of gear, it’s worth trying things out before you buy if possible. It’s the best way to know what works for you.

I am a 5’0” powerlifter and have both a 3” and 4” Pioneer belt. I prefer the 4” for squats and deadlifts, but as others have mentioned, it depends on your body, positioning, and mechanics. Trying out different belts to see what fits best is ideal. I mainly use my 3” belt for heavy front squats.

I’m 4’11", so a 3-inch belt was more comfortable for me. I ordered a lever belt from Strength Shop and I am very happy with it, they also have great customer service.

I initially ordered their 4-inch belt, but it dug into my hips and ribs. When I asked to exchange it for a 3-inch belt, it was much more comfortable and still provided good support.

Awesome! I’ve been reading a lot of reviews on both the 3” and 4” belts to figure out which one would be best, lol. I would have gone with the 3”, but they’re out of my size, and I am not sure when they will restock since it seems they don’t restock very often.

Here’s a shorty who is a big fan of the 3” Pioneer cut.

I have a 4” Pioneer belt and I’m 5’4”. I wish I had chosen a 3” instead, as it digs into both my hip bones and ribs. Despite that, I do love the belt.

Pioneer belts are fantastic.

THIS IS THE ONE I HAVE BEEN CHECKING OUT! I’m also looking at the 3” 10mm version from Strength Shop.

I have both belts. The Pioneer is definitely higher quality, but the Strength Shop belt is IPF approved. I use the Pioneer for training and the Strength Shop belt for competitions.

Amazing, wow tysm! I would have gotten the Strength Shop by now, but they are out of my size (Medium) and I have no idea when they will restock, sadly.
